Imagine the excitement of George Tupper who in 1811 uncovered the Summer Dining Room Fountain after striking it with his plough.  The site still remains

Follow in the footsteps of the first Georgian visitors as they flocked to the site by horse and carriage.  Discover how our understanding of the site has progressed to this day.

200th Anniversary

2011 was an important year for Bignor Roman Villa and the Tupper family as it brought the 200th anniversary of the re-discovery by George Tupper in 1811.

The occasion was marked  in July by a big celebration attended by family, staff and supporters of the villa.
